LA MIRADA, Calif. --- At the start of this week, Biola Women's Soccer finds itself in the middle of crafting an impressive resume. The Eagles have built a six-match shutout streak, have defeated four PacWest opponents in a row and have won four-straight road matches. But Biola cannot let those nice numbers distract them from what they need to do to accomplish their mission for a conference title, focusing on the next opponent in front of them. The Eagles would be well-served if they mastered that discipline in their two matches this week, since they'll face all three PacWest teams from Hawaii in a six-day strtech beginning October 26.Â
One of the skills Head Coach Erin Brunelle's team has certainly been able to repeat in recent weeks is the suppression of opposing attacks. Biola has surrendered four shots on goal or fewer in each of the past five matches, with all those matches ending in clean sheets and some accolades of late for the Eagles. Outside backs Colie Martin and Madi Reeves each earned PacWest weekly awards for their contributions to the Eagles' two wins last week. And senior goalkeeper Christina Rodriguez set a new program record for career shutouts when the 1-0 victory over Dominican on Saturday gave her 25 clean sheets with the Eagles.Â
Now Rodriguez and the Eagles have the all-time Biola Soccer record in their sights. Men's Soccer goalkeeper Aaron Fenlason had 27 shutouts in his career at Biola from 2008 to 2011, so Rodriguez is just three clean sheets away from having more shutouts than anyone who has ever put on a Biola soccer uniform. Then there's centerback Madyson Brown, who is closing in on the women's soccer program records for minutes played and matches started. Brown is currently second and third, respectively, on those lists and has the opportunity to move up in each category this week.Â

BIOLA (5-3-1, 2-0 PacWest) vs Academy of Art (5-3-1, 1-1 PacWest): Thursday Oct. 17 at 4 p.m.\\ Live Stats \\ Live Video
Academy of Art has the most goals of any team in the PacWest so far this season with 20 and the Urban Knights put the conference on notice when they defeated Azusa Pacific 2-1 at home to open up PacWest play. Through their first 10 matches, Urban Knights are 5-0-1 when they score two goals or more and 0-3 when scoring less than two goals. They are 2-1 on the road this year, but both wins came against non-NCAA opponents and all three road matches were played in the Bay Area.Â
ART U will make a trip out to Hawaii for the team's final three matches of the year. But this will be the Urban Knights' only trip to visit the So Cal pod this season and their first trip to Al Barbour Field for anyone currently affiliated with the team. Biola's 3-0 record against Academy of Art started in 2009 when the Eagles defeated ART U, 2-0. And the Urban Knights have had their struggles on the road against teams from the PacWest So Cal pod since that meeting with Biola 10 years ago. Academy of Art has won its share of road matches in Hawaii, but ART U has never won a road match against a team from the So Cal pod since it joined the PacWest in 2009. The Urban Knights did get close in their last opportunity, though, as ART U tied Concordia 1-1 in Irvine last October.Â
BIOLA (5-3-1, 2-0 PacWest) vs Notre Dame de Namur (4-4-2, 1-2 PacWest) : Saturday Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. \\ Live Stats \\ Live Video
The Eagles will face the Argos near the tail-end of a long journey away from home in Belmont, as the matchup at Al Barbour Field will be the fifth of six road matches that start Notre Dame de Namur's PacWest schedule. The Argos went 1-2 in Hawaii, losing the latter two matches of that trip to Chaminade and Hawaii Hilo, and will face Point Loma in San Diego on Thursday afternoon before coming to La Mirada on Saturday.Â
The Argos will bring a potent attack to Al Barbour Field, having scored 15 goals in 10 matches while only suffering one shutout. NDNU has three women who have scored three goals or more, but it's been the defense that has been the culprit in the Argos' four losses. The backline has asked a lot of starting goalkeeper Alexis Aguilar, to the tune of 72 saves on the 146 total shots she's faced in 10 matches. But the ask has been a bit too much at times as opponents have scored 18 goals against the Argos. The Eagles, by comparison, have allowed five goals in nine matches this year while asking the goalkeepers to make a total of 33 saves.Â
Biola Women's Soccer is 4-1-1 against Notre Dame de Namur all-time and is 3-0 in the last three meetings. Biola is also 2-0-1 at Al Barbour Field against the Argos and scored multiple goals in all three of the matches it has hosted.Â
