Academy of Art continued its successful start to the season by squeezing its first PacWest win of the season last Saturday against Dominican. The Urban Knights only took six shots in Saturday's match and scored the only goal of the contest in the 85th minute on a cross into Anissa Wilson. The junior forward Wilson has scored four times this season, but three of those goals came during non-conference play, when the Knights went 5-1. Academy of Art finished its non-PacWest schedule with a program-record five match winning streak but the final three of those win came against non-NCAA DII opponents. The Urban Knights have averaged just six shots during their two conference matches this season and are coming off a 1-16-1 record in 2017. The Eagles defeated ARTU 3-0 a year ago and scored all three goals in the second half.

Academy of Art does not charge admission to matches at Paul Goode Field, but parking in the adjacent lot costs $1.80 per hour and is charged in three-hour increments. Soda, water and candy will be sold as concessions on site and fans attending the match will find the parking lot by driving to the very end of Portola St.

BIOLA (2-3-2) vs. Notre Dame De Namur (1-5, 0-0 PacWest): Saturday Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. \\ Live Stats \\ Live Video
Notre Dame De Namur was selected to finish sixth in the PacWest preseason poll, one slot behind Biola at the beginning of the year but is still waiting to find its footing. The Argos start the week with a 1-5 record and face a red-hot Point Loma side on Thursday to kickoff PacWest play in Belmont, California. That match with the Sea Lions will only be the Argos' second at home this season, where they went 5-3-3 a year ago, but it appears that NDNU needs more to change than the match venue in order to turn things around. Preseason Player of the Year Ellie Mujushi earned a first-team All-PacWest selection as a freshman in 2017 with 13 goals and three assists but has scored just once so far in six matches this year. Mujushi has played at least 64 minutes in all of NDNU's contests this year but last scored three weeks ago, when the Argos lost 3-2 to Concordia Portland. Junior Susan Whitney has actually been the focal point on the Argos offense, scoring four of her team's seven goals this year, but may find it difficult to maintain her scoring momentum because Notre Dame De Namur has not played a match since Sept. 15.

ABOUT LAST WEEK:
If Biola could decide how it could play in its matches, it might very well choose its defensive effort from Thurday's match against Point Loma and its scoring capability from Saturday's match against Concordia. The Eagles withstood 18 shots-on-goal on Saturday in Irvine and still managed a tie, but the Eagles had handled basically everything the Sea Lions had thrown at them by the closing portion of the second half. Freshman keeper Viviana Poli made six saves in the first half alone, including back-to-back stuffs on good scoring chances for the visitors in the 34th minute that Poli punched over the bar. Then the Biola's defense took its turn at checking the Point Loma scoring effort in the second half as the Sea Lions were limited to just one shot in the first 30 minutes of the second half before Julia Glaser scored a turn around goal in the 75th minute. But Biola was able to take the early lead on Saturday with a goal from Annmarie Alvarez in the 20th minute before Sarah Jeffries scored two goals in a seven-minute span midway through the second half to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead. Biola has just one loss in seven all-time matches against its two opponents this coming week, so here's hoping previous meetings will bode well for the Eagles as the start PacWest play.

ONE WAY OR THE OTHER:
Since the beginning of the 2016 season, the results of Biola women's soccer matches have followed a pretty straight-forward pattern. When the Eagles score, they do not lose. In 48 matches since the start of the 2016 campaign, the Eagles are 34-0-5 when they score at least one goal and are 2-0-2 this season in that scenario, including their 3-3 tie with Concordia last Saturday. The last time Biola scored a goal and lost a match was Nov. 30, 2015 when the Eagles lost 2-1 in the NAIA National Tournament second round to Mobile (AL). And even that defeat was the only time that season when Biola lost after scoring a goal.

CONFERENCE TICKER:
Point Loma has jumped out as the early conference season front runner after taking two wins against conference opponents this week. After clipping Biola 1-0 on Thursday, the scoring flood gates opened wide for the Sea Lions on Saturday against Fresno Pacific. Point Loma scored five times against the PacWest preseason favorites in the Sunbirds and recorded their fifth shutout victory in a row. Junior Julia Glaser scored three times last week for PLNU on the way to PacWest Player of the Week honors and will travel with her team to Northern California this week to play Biola's schedule in reverse, Notre Dame De Namur on Thursday and Academy of Art of Saturday. Azusa Pacific technically leads the conference after completing two-thirds of its Hawaii road trip with a win over Chaminade and a 1-1 tie with Hawaii Pacific.
