The Falcons travel south to California for their second match of the week after playing Cal State San Bernardino at home on Tuesday. Seattle Pacific's defense has only surrendered one goal through its first four matches while the offense is riding on the heels of a 4-1 win on the road over San Francisco State this past Saturday. Sophomore Sophia Chilczuk has backed her GNAC Freshman of the Year honor with three goals so far this season and is supported by other scorers who have helped SPU take early leads. The Falcons scored within the first eight minutes of the match in two of their three wins and took a 1-0 lead at the 26 minute mark in a 2-0 victory over Minnesota State Moorhead on Sept. 1. Seattle Pacific's previous opponents are a combined 4-6-3 this season and they have yet to face a team with a winning record. They were picked to finish third in their nine-team conference and return four all-conference players from a year ago, including two All-West Region selection in seniors Kasey Reeves and Kaitlyn Willis.

ABOUT LAST WEEK:
Even with a rotation of seven players seeing 35 minutes or more on the backline, the Eagles' defense looked in good form last week. Biola only surrendered one goal in each match and controlled the latter portions of both matches but came a goal or two short of a win in both matches. It may only be a matter of sustained dedication over time for the Eagles to put crooked numbers on the scoreboard again. Biola produced eight shots-on-goal in both matches last week after it used nine SOG's to score three times against CSU Dominguez Hills to open the season. But the team certainly say it can't bide its time for scoring chances this Saturday or any match the rest of the way. Admittedly, the Eagles are still waiting to see how their formation will play when their roster is at full strength. But Biola's depth got a major boost this week with the return of Madi deMetropolis, Devin Gooch and Danielle Strickler, along with quality performances from Sandy Hawryla, Rachel Melvin and Sierra Miller. At this point it seems like everyone on Head Coach Erin Brunelle's roster will be able to step up when called up.

ONE WAY OR THE OTHER:
Since the beginning of the 2016 season, the results of Biola women's soccer matches have followed a pretty straight-forward pattern. When the Eagles score, they do not lose. In 45 matches since the start of the 2016 campaign, the Eagles are 33-0-4 when they score at least one goal and are 1-0-1 this season in that scenario. The last time Biola scored a goal and lost a match was Nov. 30, 2015 when the Eagles lost 2-1 in the NAIA National Tournament second round to Mobile (AL). And even that defeat was the only time that season when Biola lost after scoring a goal.


CONFERENCE TICKER:
The PacWest as a whole has had a rough start to the non-conference season, as 10 of the teams come into this week with one win or fewer. Academy of Art and Point Loma both picked up two wins last week while Chaminade is the PacWest's only undefeated team with a 1-0 record. Notre Dame De Namur's leads the conference with three goals this season despite her team's 0-4 record while Biola's Annmarie Alvarez is tied for second on the PacWest leaderboard with two goals. PacWest teams will begin playing conference opponents next week and about half the matches will count toward teams' actual conference record. Biola will be playing Concordia and Point Loma in non-conference matchups next week.
