Announcement for Madyson Brown's Summer Award

Brown Awarded for Summer Play

Madyson Brown’s success during her summer stint with BuxMont Torch FC earned her an All-Conference selection from the WPSL East Region.

August 23, 2018

OKLAHOMA CITY --- Madyson Brown was named to the Mid-Atlantic All-Conference Team by the Women's Premier Soccer League on Thursday in recognition of her success with BuxMont Torch FC this past summer.

Brown was the only PacWest player to appear on the collection of four all-conference teams in the East Region and was joined on the Mid-Atlantic team by three other Torch teammates who compete for NCAA DI schools. The Salem, Oregon native played for Torch FC during May and June of this past summer and helped the club to a 5-1 start en route to its first postseason appearance in the WPSL.

Torch FC was established as a sports ministry in the Philadelphia area in 1999 to train sports ministers to spread the gospel and train sports ministers and supports both men's and women's summer teams. The women's side Brown played on is one of the over 100 teams that play in Women's Premier Soccer League, representing the largest club membership in the world for a single women's league.

The WPSL has existed for 21 seasons and "strives to provide the highest level of developmental opportunities for amateur players in the United States," according to the about page on the league website.

Brown and her teammates returned to Biola two weeks ago to train for the 2018 season and their first match, now just eight days away. The Eagles will play an exhibition against former conference peer Hope International at home on Monday Aug. 27 before officially starting their season against CSU Dominguez Hills on Aug. 30 in another contest at Al Barbour Field.
