LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Shortly after the conclusion of their trip to the NCCAA World Series semifinals at the end of May, 20 members of the Biola baseball team dispersed across the country, from Alaska to Kansas, to report for their summer ball assignments.

June's top performers include three Eagles who have absolutely shut the door out of the bullpen in the first four-plus weeks of summer league action. Honus Kindreich (Chugiak Chinooks, Alaska League), Josh Ludeman (Lincoln Potters, Great West League) and Troy Stainbrook (Wenatchee AppleSox, West Coast League) have combined for a 1.55 ERA in 40.2 innings out of the pen for their respective teams with 59 strikeouts.

Kindreich has only allowed three walks in eight games for the Chinooks and threw nine innings of scoreless relief in three appearances from June 17 to June 22. Ludeman has only built on the success he had in the NCCAA playoffs, helping the Potters climb to second place in the standing and an 18-11 record. He has two saves in 10.2 innings and has 18 strikeouts with zero walks.

Finally, Stainbrook has proven himself as one of the premier power arms in the West Coast League with 27 strikeouts in just over 13 innings. Stainbrook has surrendered just six hits this summer and is coming off a three-inning outing against Bend on June 27 in which he collected all nine outs via strikeout.

Joey Magro joined Stainbrook in Wenatchee this summer and is part of the collection of Biola hitters who are indicating the Eagles will be strong up the middle in 2019. Magro has reached safely 32 times in 19 games for the AppleSox with 18 hits and 17 runs scored. As Magro's likely double-play partner in 2019, Connor Kostecka (Inland Valley Bucs, SCCBL) isn't far behind with 17 hits and 12 runs in 17 games. Kostecka put together a five-game hitting streak from June 16 to June 23 and combines with Magro for a total of 11 multi-hit games.

The Eagles also have two catchers who are doing impressive things with the lumber. Senior-to-be Anj Bourgeois stayed at Eagles Diamond with the So Cal Catch of the California Collegiate League and is the team's fourth-leading hitter with a .304 batting average. Incoming freshman Christos Stefanos (Inland Valley Bucs, SCCBL) punctuated a four-game hitting streak by smashing two homeruns in a June 18 win over the San Diego Force. Stefanos is hitting .316 with five extra-base hits and nine RBI's for the Bucs.

First baseman Jackson Collins also made noise all the way out in Park City, Kansas where he's hitting .303 as an everyday starter for the Rangers of the Kansas Collegiate League. Joined on the roster by Biola teammates Cole Beemer and Caleb Watson, Collins has 21 RBI's and 14 walks so far this summer and is one of just three Rangers to surpass 30 total bases.

Park City's connection to Biola extends beyond the players, as Biola Baseball alumni Sam Thorne and Wyatt Haccou both serve on the Rangers coaching staff.
