LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola student-athletes picked up 176 Academic All-PacWest honors during their first season competing in the conference. This mark put the Eagles on top of the list of the conference's 14 institutions, edging second-place Azusa Pacific, which had 173. The conference as a whole had 1,815 total student-athlete honors, which was a new record for any one year.

Student-athletes who achieve at least a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average, completed at least two semesters at their institution and participated in regular season competition in a PacWest sponsored sport receive Academic All-PacWest recognition.

Women's Track & Field (28) and Women's Soccer (25) led Biola's list of honorees. Women's Soccer's number is especially impressive since its 25 honorees came on a roster of just 26. Women's Tennis (7) was the only team to have 100 percent of its participating roster earn the academic honor.

Tanner Dutchover (XC/T&F), Taylor Lawsen (XC/T&F), Tori Apodaca (SB), Daniel Perez (XC/T&F) and Heidi Sowers (XC/T&F) each achieved perfect 4.00 GPAs. Biola accounted for five of the PacWest's 37 student-athletes with perfect GPAs.
