Women’s Soccer Sets 2018 Schedule

The Biola Eagles look to climb higher in the PacWest and qualify for NCCAA Postseason for the second-straight year.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The Biola Eagles 2018 schedule provides an intriguing set of challenges for Head Coach Erin Brunelle's team as it comes off an NCCAA National Championship and the most successful season in the history of the women's soccer program.

The Eagles will not look to simply return to NCCAA postseason for a second year, even though that is on their list of goals for this season. Priority number one is navigating the demands of this year's conference schedule and taking another step toward establishing themselves as a perennial contender for a PacWest title.

Biola went 8-3-2 in PacWest play last year, rattling off a 6-0-1 conference record at home and three-straight shutouts to jump into fourth place at the end of the regular season. Their fixated attention on finishing top-five in the PacWest served the Eagles well in 2017, as the competitive list of opponents prepared them for the demands of the NCCAA National Tournament. So the hope is that another strong effort in conference this season will cause everything that follows the regular season to fall into place.

Biola will get bacak in action with a scrimmage against former GSAC peer Vanguard University on Saturday Aug. 18 before playing opening the season at Al Barbour Field on Aug. 30 against CSU Dominguez Hills. The Eagles will play 7 countable non-conference matches in total, including matchups with Point Loma and Concordia in mid-September that will not count to their PacWest record.

Conference play begins at the end of September as Biola heads up to Northern California to face Academy of Art on Thursday the 27th and Notre Dame De Namur on Saturday the 29th.

After a brief stop at home to play Concordia on Saturday Oct. 6, the Eagles travel to Hawai'i for the first time for a circuit with all three PacWest schools on the islands between Oct. 11 and Oct. 16. A successful trip has the potential to set up the Eagles for an excellent finish in the PacWest standings since four of their final five conference matches will be held at Al Barbour Field, including this season's Cornerstone Cup matchup with Azusa Pacific on Saturday Oct. 27 and the regular season finale against Dominican on Saturday Nov. 3.

All of Biola's home matches this season are currently scheduled for 7:00 p.m. kickoffs.

Biola will need to finish somewhere near the top of the PacWest to qualify for NCCAA postseason and continue matches through the rest of November and into December. For more information on the program, visit the women's soccer team page.
