EASLEY, S.C. --- The rain put a damper on Biola's attempt to win the NCCAA World Series semifinal on Friday night and forced the Eagles and Campbellsville Tigers to try to resume play Saturday morning.

The game's intended start time is 8:45 a.m. (PT), pending weather and field conditions, and the Tigers will maintain the 9-0 they built over the first six innings.

Senior started Micah Beyer took a good first step for Biola. Beyer started his outing with four groundouts over his first two innings to keep the Tigers scoreless. He neutralized the first Campbellsville extra-base hits by stranding Tyler Deason at second base after he led off the second with a double.

But the Tigers would come back in the next inning with three more doubles against Beyer to take the early 4-0 lead after the rain started to affect play. Then Campbellsville would mix in two two-run singles over the course of the next three innings as it raised its lead to 9-0.

The game was suspended with Campbellsville batting in the top of the sixth and senior Daniel Jang on the mound for Biola.

For a while it seemed that Biola had found a man to stifle the Tigers in sophomore Josh Ludeman. Ludeman entered the game in the fourth inning as Biola's third reliever and retired the first seven batters he faced, striking out five. But CU followed a one-out walk in the sixth with three-straight hits to force Ludeman out of the game.

The Eagles at the plate had trouble dealing with starter Tyler Deason, managing just two hits over the first five trips to the plate. But Deason threw 90 pitches in his first five innings of work, so Campbellsville will be forced to give the ball to a new pitcher on Saturday.

The Eagles will have four innings to score at least nine runs to keep their season alive. But they've got the night to study up on Campbellsville and have scored nine runs in a four-inning span nine times this season.
