LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Nine members of the Head Coach Jay Sullenger's roster were named NCCAA All-West Region baseball players this past Friday. Three Eagles earned year-end awards for the first time this season and Biola placed six men on the first team after winning the West Regional Championship on May 12.

All six Eagles who earned All-PacWest honors earned NCCAA West Region awards. Pitchers Micah Beyer and Daniel Jang took the top pitching spots on the first team while hitters Ryan Gallegos, Jacob Portaro and Colton Worthington joined the senior pitchers on the first-team list while junior Jerron Largusa was tops among outfielders on the second team.

Three upperclassman collected year-end awards for the first time on Friday. Senior River Fawley appeared on the first team at the catcher spot after slugging his way past opponents during the second half of the season. Shortstop Ricky Perez and starter Troy Stainbrook also had strong finishes to the 2018 regular season and landed on the second team.

Fawley earned his finished with all-region worthy numbers after he posted a 1.091 slugging percentage during the second half of conference play. He finished with a .319 batting average, eight homeruns and 24 RBI's in 23 starts this season. With the addition of five doubles and two triples, sixty percent of Fawley's hits this year went for extra bases and he drove in the game-tying or go-ahead run three times.

Perez also had a soild senior campaign and really put things together in the second half of the year. The Burbank, California native collected hits in 19 of the final 21 games of the season, good for a total of 24 with a .312 batting average. Perez had as many walks (18) as he did strikeouts this season and led the PacWest in steals with 17 and assists with 137.

Over his last five starts of the season, Stainbrook went into the sixth inning in every outing and led the Eagles with a 3.77 ERA. Stainbrook collected 47 strikeouts over 61.1 innings this year while the Eagles went 4-1 over his last five starts, where he limited hitters to a .216 batting average.

The All-West Region first team and second team were composed of players from Biola, Bethesda, Ottawa (Ariz.) and Saint Katherine. The Spirit and Firebirds will join Biola in Easley, South Carolina for the NCCAA Baseball World Series that begins May 23 and the Eagles will face Ottawa (Ariz.) in the first game of pool play on Wednesday at 11 a.m. (PT).
