May 17, 2018

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The Biola Eagles were tabbed as the top overall seed in the NCCAA World Series on Wednesday after winning the West Regional Championship in walkoff fashion on May 12.

Come May 23, the Eagles will begin pool play in Easley, South Carolina and will have to play six games over the span of four days in order to reach their goal of winning the NCCAA National Championship.

The field is comprised of 10 teams, five regional representatives and five at-large bids from across the country. Two other regional representatives and two-at large selections join the Eagles on Pool A: No. 4 Southwestern Christian from Bethany, Oklahoma; No. 5 Concordia Ann Arbor from Ann Arbor, Michigan; No. 8 Ottawa (Ariz.) from Surprise, Arizona; and No. 9 Bluefield out of Bluefield, Virginia.

As the No. 1 seed, Biola will play two games on Wednesday and two more on Thursday. The Eagles take on Ottawa (Ariz.) in their first game at 11:00 a.m. (PT) on Wednesday followed by 5:00 p.m. game against Concordia. Both of Biola's games on Wednesday will be held at the JB "Red" Owens Sports Complex. On Thursday Biola matches up against Bluefield at 10:00 a.m. (PT) and Southwestern Christian at 4:00 p.m. (PT) at Easley High School.

Teams will need three wins during pool play to advance to the semifinals on Friday night. And many teams will attempt to preserve their pitchers by making use of the 10-run rule that is effect during pool play. Any pool play game will be called when one team is up by 10 runs or more after seven innings of play. The results for every game in the World Series will be posted at the NCCAA Baseball Championship page.

All 10 teams will also participate in a Christian Service Project on Tuesday, May 22 that benefits local churches in Easley.

Previews of the Eagles matchups will be posted each day on the Biola Athletics home page. Fans can purchase a video feed of each game through the Tourbeau broadcast portal and links to live stats for each will be posted to the Biola Athletics home page an hour before first pitch.
