COVINA, Calif. --- Viviana Poli is one of those goalkeepers who uses her fire and drive to push her team to play at its best. After earning multiple club championships and a Palomares league title in 2018, Poli will suit up for Head Coach Erin Brunelle's team in the fall and help the Biola Eagles try to repeat as NCCAA National Champions.

"Viviana possesses many of the traits we desire in a goalkeeper, most notably someone who competes in every drill and game in order to make herself better, but is also supportive of the players around her," said Brunelle. " She is an athletic, quick, feisty goalkeeper who will raise the competitive edge within our goalkeeper unit. We look forward to the relationships she will build with her teammates and classmates and are excited to see how God will use her on our campus and in our community."

Poli will come to Biola on the heels of a 19-4-2 season for South Hills in which she made 35 saves and collected 10 wins. The Huskies only allowed 24 goals in those 25 matches and advanced to the second round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs after winning the Palomeras league with a record of 9-1-0.

The Covina, California native was also saw time in seven varsity matches as a sophomore when South Hills won the CIF Southern Section and Southern Regional Championships. During her three years of varsity experience, Poli has collected over 100 saved and allowed just 25 goals in almost 2000 minutes. She has also played club soccer for 10 years and won a California Regional League Title with Legends FC in 2018.

Poli plans to major in psychology when she enrolls at Biola in August and commented about how great a fit Biola was for her when she was asked about her college decision.

"I was considering other universities at the time and had not been able to make a choice until I received a phone call asking me to come check out Biola," said Poli. "After my visit, I knew this is where I wanted to be. I loved the familial feel the campus has and knew this was where I belonged. Biola has a great community that I can't wait to be a part of."
