Gantt Goes Coast-to-Coast

Post-player Haley Gantt comes to Biola Women’s Basketball from Boynton Beach, Florida.

April 18, 2018

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. --- Haley Gantt is a hard worker, no question about it. One search for Gantt's mentions on the internet will uncover lists of her workout video and numerous honors that show how her work has paid off.

Basketball has taken her to a South Florida All-Star Game this past March and has earned Gantt multiple all-county team selections for The King's Academy Lions. And now the sport will take her clear across the country from the West Palm Beach, Florida area to La Mirada, California to play for the Biola Eagles when she enrolls as a freshman this fall.

"I chose Biola because I felt very welcomed when I went to visit," said Gantt. "The Christian atmosphere, basketball program, academics and location were a great fit."

Gantt helped The King's Academy to a 17-8 record and an playoff appearance this year after averaging five blocks per game to go along with 13.8 points and 11.8 rebounds. She averaged a double-double each of the past two seasons and appeared on the all-area and all-county teams during her junior and senior years.

She also earned recognition from a local news agency in Florida that featured Gantt as its Athlete of the Week on March 1 and produced a video about Gantt's outstanding comeback from back surgery. The video from CBS12 in West Palm Beach, Florida can be viewed here.

Haley comes from a wonderful family, and is devoted in her walk with the Lord," said Head Coach Alan Nakamura. "She says she loves the game, and lives it, by all of the work she puts in on and off the court. Haley already has excellent ability, and she is going to continue to get stronger, and improve her skills, every year. With her energy and work-ethic she will be a great teammate, and will be a pleasure to work with!"

Gantt plans to major in kinesiology when she enrolls at Biola and hopes her degree will lead her into a career as a pediatric physical therapist. She will join her new teammates in September when Biola students arrive for the beginning of fall classes.
