LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Just as it rewarded the Biola softball team for its 6-2 roadtrip to Hawai'i, the PacWest conference office honored the baseball team on Monday for starting its conference schedule with six wins against Hawai'i Pacific and Hawai'i Hilo.

Micah Beyer earned a Pitcher of the Week award for the second-straight Monday after improving to 2-0 in PacWest play this past Saturday with an eight-inning win over Hawai'i Hilo. In his third-straight start of at least seven innings, Beyer only allowed four hits and one walk while striking out 12 in the 2-1 victory. He did not allow a hit after surrendering the only run of the game for the Vulcans in the sixth inning and used his 12 K's to become the PacWest leader in total strikeouts (40) after just four starts.

Beyer was named NCCAA Pitcher of the Week last Monday after getting 14 strikeouts in eight innings against Bethesda University.

Gallegos was tabbed as PacWest Freshman of the Week after finishing the Hawai'i trip on a three-game hitting streak. The outfielder drove in the game-winning run in the final two games of Biola's series with Hawai'i Hilo, hitting a two-run homerun in the ninth inning during the first game of Saturday's doubleheader and then drove in Jerron Largusa in the fifth inning of game two to give Biola a 6-5 lead.

Gallegos finished with six RBI's, six runs scored and eight hits during five games this week. He only struck out twice in 19 at-bats and had three extra-base hits, including the first homerun of his collegiate career. This is the first weekly award of his career.

The Eagles will try to improve to 13-4 on the season on Tuesday when they play their first home game since Feb. 17. Old GSAC foe Vanguard will come to Eagles Diamond for a 2:00 p.m. matinee.
