SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- Biola Track & Field finished off its busy Holy Week competition with sprint and field events at the UC San Diego California Collegiate Open.

This half of the team was tasked with following up a strong performance from the distance runners yesterday at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, and they did just that.

Gabriel Igbokwe had the highest individual finish of the day with a fourth-place mark in the men's triple jump. He set a new career-best with a distance of 13.69m.

Aditya Lal once again made a splash for the Eagles. He came so close to a new career-best in the 800m by completing the race in 1:01.60. That was just under four-tenths of a second slower than his top mark.

Nathaniel Belden threw the javelin on Saturday and set a new top mark by a few meters. He earned a ninth-place finish with his toss of 43.96m.

Paige LaBare led the way on the women's side with strong placements in the 100m and 200m. She finished sixth in the 100m (12.33) and 11th in the 200m (25.72) to put up some of her best times of the season.

Hannah Hubbard was also a two-event star, placing 10th in both the long jump and the triple jump (10.91m). Her long jump of 5.29m was a career-best.

The usual suspects performed well in the throws for the women. Ambernicole Hollinger was sixth in the hammer throw (47.17m) and sixth in the shot put (12.2m). Emily Shaw had a strong toss in the shot put to finish ninth with a mark of 11.26m.

Finally, Carissa Kalpakjian, earned herself a top-10 finish with her run in the 400m. Her 1:01.60 was good enough for eighth overall.

The Eagles continue their season next weekend with another local meet as they compete Saturday at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
