SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- Biola Track season continued on saturday as the Eagles had the opportunity to send a large group to compete at the Ross & Sharon Irwin Invitational hosted by PacWest Conference foe, Point Loma.

The men and women finished eighth and ninth, respectively, but the meet was more about scoring some good marks and continuing to get some work in as the season rolls along.

"We had a few good performances in the jumps, throws, and running events, however we need to continue executing better in competition what we are doing in practice," said Head Coach Sean Henning.

Gabriel Igbokwe was an individual standout. The first-year Eagle finished third in the triple jump and seventh in the long jump while earning season-best marks in each event. He cleared 13.11m in the triple and 6.39m in the LJ. He now ranks just outside of the top-50 in all of NCAA Division II in the triple jump.

The 110m hurdles was also a strong event for the men as Nathaniel Belden and Corry Williams finished nearly back-to-back at 14th and 16th with times of 15.74 and 15.82.

Aditya Lal continued his strong start to the season with good runs in both the 400m and the 800m. He was fifth overall in the 800m with a time of 1:57 and then placed in the top-20 with a 19th-place finish in the 400m (:52.09). His 800m run came just 25 minutes after he had finished the 400m.

Emily Heisinger once again led the way for BU on the women's side. The senior set another career-best by finishing 13th in the 200m with a time of :25.86. She was not the only once to finish near the top and hit a new best mark, as Heidi Sowers had a busy day setting personal-bests in the 100m hurdles (15.72) and the javelin toss (29.24m). Her toss was a four-meter improvement from the mark she posted two weeks ago at CSU Los Angeles.

The javelin must have been flying well this morning, because the Eagles also had Jensyn Lown place inside of the top-10 and set a huge personal-best. She threw the jav 29.39m for a 3-meter increase on her mark from one week ago.

Sarah Prystupa didn't have a career-best, but the sophomore did clear her best height of the season to finish fifth in the pole vault. She set a new season-best mark of 3.49m, which was .3 meters back from the winner.

It was a good day to be a Sarah as Sarah Rossiter also found herself inside of the top-10 with a strong showing in the women's long jump. The freshman paced the pack of Eagles with her mark of 4.87m to finish 10th. Christina Clark matched that 10th-place finish with a 10.12m mark in the triple jump.

Finally, Anna Maumalanga and Ambernicole Hollinger continued to impress in the throws. Maumalanga took second-place in the discus with a toss that was just eight-hundredths of a meter off her school record (42.13m). She and Hollinger went back-to-back in the shot put with seventh and eighth-place finishes (11.93m, 11.44m).

The Eagles continue their busy season with another meet next week. They are scheduled to make another trip down the 5-freeway to compete at the San Diego State Aztec Invitational.
