YORBA LINDA, Calif. --- Biola Volleyball continues to keep it in the family with its class of 2019 signed recruits. This time, it's the addition of Jillian Gallarda, the younger sister of Biola Baseball star Jimmy Gallarda and volleyball All-American (and now assistant coach) Gracee Teague.

The younger Gallarda will look to cement her own Biola legacy when she arrives on campus next fall to join Head Coach Aaron Seltzer's team on its hunt for a PacWest Conference title.

"I chose Biola because my sister and brother both went here and had nothing but positive things to say," said Gallarda. "I also love what Biola is about, being that Biola is not only where students come to develop and further their education, but also to grow and deepen their relationship with the Lord. I am excited to see how God works in me and in my peers."

Gallarda comes to the Eagles after playing her high school volleyball at Hebron High School in Carrollton, Texas. She also played at Excel Volleyball Club.

She plays right side with some time spent at middle blocker.

Gallarda plans to study communication sciences and disorders, stemming from an interest in speech pathology. Her goal is to become a speech pathologist and work with children/teenagers who are deaf or have speech impediments/difficulties. She eventually wants to open a private practice.

During her time in high school, she and her mother began a Bible study group for young women at her school.

"Some of them are my closest friends and don't go to church that often so it's fun getting to share this time with them and seeing them open to coming and wanting to come and learn more about Jesus and who he is," said Gallarda.

Gallarda, together with Dominique Kirton, make this an extra special incoming class for Biola Volleyball. Both players' older siblings had tremendous BU careers, and now the next group will look for something even more special in the NCAA Division II era.
