OLATHE, Kansas --- Abigail Copeland is trading in her feathers, as after four years as a Raven at Olathe Northwest High School, she's committed to be a Biola Eagle and a part of Biola's volleyball team.

Copeland is a 6-foot-3-inch middle blocker who won two state championships in high school and led her team to no finishes worse than fourth-place in the state. She was a starter on that varsity team all four years and earned individual honors as high as all-league second team.

"I chose Biola University because I felt so welcomed and immediately felt the positive family atmosphere," said Copeland. "I also knew I could help make an impact and that I wanted God to be very involved in my collegiate volleyball career."

She made the honor roll each year in high school while carrying multiple AP courses. She was also actively involved in club volleyball, competing with Adidas Dynasty. She won a national qualifier in 2015 and finished fifth in the largest national qualifier in the nation. Her team has been ranked in the top three in the Heart of America region each year since 2014 and she earned AVCA phenom program honorable mention honors.

Copeland's father, Michael, has been mayor of her hometown since April 2001. He's the longest-tenured mayor in the history of Olathe, Kansas, which has a listed population of almost 140,000.

She shared that she enjoys guacamole and raspberries. Not together, just that they both are tied for her "favorite food".

Catch Copeland on campus beginning next fall as she pursues her degree in business marketing and helps lead Biola into NCAA postseason competition for the first time.
