PASADENA, Calif. --- Lydia Roleder had three tremendous years of high school volleyball, before a leg injury forced her to miss her senior season. She sees the positive in the situation, as God used her to make an impact for His cause while she was having to miss out on volleyball last season.

She will have a chance to do combine her love for God and service with her love for volleyball over the course of the next four years as she's committed to Head Coach Aaron Seltzer's Biola Volleyball program.

Roleder was the team MVP at Village Christian Schools in 2017 and the league MVP the same season. She's an outside hitter with great length, a good serve and a whole lot of potential.

"I love the campus! It's so homey and feels like I belong there," said Roleder. "The people are amazing and the culture is one hard to find on other campuses. I'm so excited to play with such a large incoming freshmen class and to really just play with others who love to compete, especially for the glory of God."

During her three active years at Village Christian Schools she earned the team's most improved player awards in 2015 and 2016 before having the huge breakout season in 2017. She earned the Athletic Achievement Award for her graduating senior class.

It was an accomplished class, as they won a CIF 2AA title, a state championship and had several state runner-up finishes.

During her time away from volleyball this past season, Roleder had a chance to go on a mission trip to Mexicali for a week and commit a lot of work towards rehabbing for her collegiate career.

Outside of volleyball and her studies, she loves going to the beach, hanging out with friends and talking about personal relationships and the value of the people God has put in her life.

She plans to major in psychology when she arrives at Biola in the fall. Catch her and her teammates in action beginning in September as they chase a PacWest championship!
