GARDEN GROVE, Calif. --- Biola Women's Soccer has added another strong signing to its 2019 recruiting class and to its long tradition of exceptional midfielders in Garden Grove-native Halie Jamir.

Jamir will come to Biola this coming fall after serving as a team captain at Kennedy High School for the past three years and landing on the Empire League All-Academic Team throughout her high school career. She's also developed a level of skill on the ball through her work in SYL club competition that excites Head Coach Erin Brunelle.

"I can't help but smile when I watch Halie play the game. She has a joyful passion in her play out on the pitch and she brings a positive energy to the players around her," said Brunelle. "Her experience in the SYL has developed her into a creative attacking midfielder who sees passing lanes, spaces, and seams that most players do not. She also finds pockets of space in front of goal and has the quality to finish from the edge of the box. Finally, Halie will be a wonderful teammate for our program, and we look forward to her development on and off of the field."

Jamir has made two FarWest Regional tournaments and won a National Cup in 2016 while playing club soccer. She's also a two-time All-Empire League First Team selection and has helped her team to a 5-3-1 start to her senior season as the Fighting Irish have recorded four-consecutive shutouts at the time of writing.

The Fighting Irish also made CIF playoffs for the second time in Jamir's high school career in 2018 when the team won 13 matches and Jamir earned team most valuable attacker recognition.

Off the pitch, Jamir has decided to use her time in college to prepare for a nursing career and takes her Christian faith seriously. The desire to develop in both of those areas of her life while also playing competitive NCAA soccer played important roles in her choice to commit to Biola:

"I chose Biola University for its amazing nursing and women's Soccer Program and, more importantly, to grow as an individual with Jesus Christ," said Jamir. "What's better than playing the sport you love with girls that have the same hearts for Jesus Christ?"
