Over the past three weeks, first-half goals have been the life blood for the Hawaii Pacific Sharks and have correlated with their chances of victory. The Sharks went 1-1 on their recent trip to PacWest schools in the Bay Area, scoring in the fourth minute during their 2-0 win over Notre Dame De Namur but were limited to just one shot in the first half of a 3-0 loss to Dominican. In their last six matches since stunning Chaminade with three second-half scores in a non-conference match on Sept. 15, Hawaii Pacific has scored a first-half goal in half of those contests and is 0-2-1 when it doesn't score in the pening period. Part of the Sharks offensive struggles come from the fact that their players seem to have trouble getting in a scoring rhythm. Leading scorer Tehani Furuta, who has four goals, hasn't scored since Sept. 15 while the next leading scorer has collected just two goals. That player in Nina Gonzalez, and the Eagles figure to pay a lot of attention to her since both of her goals have been game-winners and have come in two of the Sharks' last three contests. Fans attending the match will be able to park and gain admission for free. The match is currently scheduled to take place on the field outside the Stadium at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex, where fans should expect "camp style" seating around the pitch as bleachers are not available.

BIOLA (5-3-2, 3-0 PacWest) vs. Chaminade (1-5-1, 0-3-1 PacWest): Saturday Oct. 13 at 5:30 p.m. \\ Live Stats
Chaminade has struggled against PacWest opponents to start the season and will attempt to earn their first PacWest win against Biola in their third conference home game. In six matches against conference opponents, with four of those counting toward the 'Swords 0-3-1 PacWest record, Chaminade has gone scoreless four times and has twice lost 3-2 in overtime. Most recently, the Silverswords went up 2-0 on Notre Dame De Namur after nine minutes before giving up two goals after the 60th minute and losing in overtime. Chaminade will also be looking to avenge the 2-0 loss the received in La Mirada last year and has a full week to prepare for Biola, as Saturday's match is the only contest of the week for CUH. On-campus parking will be available for free, in addition to free admission to the match for fans traveling to Oahu. Chaminade has also provided driving directions to the match site from Waikiki.

ABOUT LAST WEEK:
Biola improved to 3-0 to start PacWest play this past Saturday after jumping out to a huge first-half lead against Concordia and riding it to a 3-2 victory. Three Eagle forwards scored a goal within a span of 12 minutes as Biola's attackers skillfully and decisively carved their way into the Concordia penalty area to create scoring opportunities. Freshman Katelyn Penner provided two of Biola's five assists on goals from Paula-Marie Labate, Sarah Jeffries and Sierra Rangel, a trio that has combined for seven goals in the past two weeks of matches. As the forward begin to rack up goals and the offense starts to roll, the Eagles defense and freshman keeper Viviana Poli also did exactly what was required of them to keep their high-scoring opponents at bay. Poli took center stage on Saturday after setting a new single-match program record for saves with 17. Biola's previous record was 14, set Sept. 4, 2007 against Cal State Dominguez Hills.

GET OUT IN FRONT:
After recording the initial goal in each of its two matches last week, Biola has now scored first in six of its 10 matches this year and is 5-0-1 when it takes the early lead. The Eagles have recorded the first goal in four-matches straight and in five of their last six contests.

ONE WAY OR THE OTHER:
Since the beginning of the 2016 season, the results of Biola women's soccer matches have followed a pretty straight-forward pattern. When the Eagles score, they do not lose. In 49 matches since the start of the 2016 campaign, the Eagles are 37-0-5 when they score at least one goal and are 5-0-2 this season in that scenario, including both wins from last week. The last time Biola scored a goal and lost a match was Nov. 30, 2015 when the Eagles lost 2-1 in the NAIA National Tournament second round to Mobile (AL). And even that defeat was the only time that season when Biola lost after scoring a goal.


CONFERENCE TICKER:
Point Loma continues to set the pace in the PacWest with two wins last week to reach 12 points in conference play. The Sea Lions are now 9-1 overall and surrendered their first goal in nine matches during their 2-1 win over Azusa Pacific. Hawaii Hilo has also come on strong of late with five-straight wins and a 3-0-1 conference record after defeating Academy of Art and Holy Names last week. The Vulcans play Concordia in Keaau, Hawaii this coming Saturday before hosting Biola next Tuesday while Point Loma hosts Holy Names and Dominican this week before it travels to Hawaii for three matches.
