LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Baseball and the Eagles Athletic Association are pleased to announce that additional spaces are available for the fourth annual First Pitch Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 27 in Andrews Banquet Room at 6:30 p.m.

The catered dinner will feature an address from LA Dodgers Chaplain Brandon Cash and a panel with pitchers Chase De Jong and Caleb Dirks discussing their rise through multiple levels of minor and major league baseball.

This is the fourth year that Head Coach Jay Sullenger has hosted an elegant preseason dinner to introduce the team, bond with friends and family of the program and hear special remarks from Christians in the baseball community. All proceeds for the event go towards ongoing Eagles Athletic Association projects that directly benefit the student-athlete experience on the Biola Baseball team, including scholarships and the team's ongoing ministry efforts.

Cash has been the Dodgers' chaplain since 2010 and partnered with many well-known Dodger players to host faith events at Dodger Stadium and organize international mission trips to places like the Dominican Republic. He is a pastor at Oceanside Christian Fellowship in El Segundo, Calif. and currently teaches courses in Talbot's Preaching and Pastoral Ministry program.

De Jong and Dirks both had stints in the Dodgers system but are now in the Mariners and Braves organizations, respectively. De Jong was a second-round pick of the Toronto Blue Jays in 2012 and earned his first promotion to the Majors in 2017 when he pitched 28.1 innings for Seattle.

Dirks finished the 2017 season as a power reliever at Atlanta's AAA affiliate. He recorded 45 strikeouts in 40.1 innings for Gwinnett and was a 15th round draft pick out of California Baptist in 2014.
