LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Senior point guard
DeMoria White was named PacWest Player of the Week on Monday after she pushed the Eagles to wins over Point Loma and Concordia last week with 23 points in each contest.
This is the first weekly honor that the women's basketball team has received this season. White received two player of the week honors when Biola was in the GSAC last season. Â
"We're very excited Mori's recognition and really, the improvement of the whole team," said Nakamura. "Her contribution to the team goes well beyond the stat line. Mori's leadership, poise and the confidence the team has in her is invaluable."
In addition to finishing as the leading scorer in both wins for Biola, White also scored the game-winning points via free throw in both games and led the Eagles in rebounding on Thursday night with eight. She shot 55 percent from the field last week, going 18-for-33 on her shot attempts, and turned the ball over just four times.
The Eagles have found a lot of success in conference play since the start of the calendar year, winning three of their last four PacWest contests. They will play a non-conference game against Bethesda on Wednesday before returning to conference play on Saturday when Hawai'i Pacific arrives at Chase Gym.
