DANA POINT, Calif. --- Biola Baseball continues to add to its impressive list of incoming pitchers for the 2018 season. Pitching Coach Justin Hixson will have another strong lefty to work with in the form of Devin Sutorius from Saddleback College.
 
Sutorius comes to the Eagles after two previous intercollegiate seasons. He spent his freshman season at NCAA Division I Coppin State before transferring to Saddleback last season. The Eagles have a strong history of Saddleback transfers, most notably former ace Eric Diomartich.
 
"DJ is an above average athlete that pitches. He has experience both starting and relieving with much success," said Head Coach Jay Sullenger. "I have loved his attitude and desire to join our program and be a part of the success that has been building."
 
Prior to his time at Coppin State and Saddleback Sutorius played his varsity high school ball at Capistrano Valley Christian High School. He was a three-time all-league player with the Eagles and helped them to a 2014 CIF Championship.
 
When he was a freshman at Coppin State he finished inside of the top-10 in his conference in innings pitched (76.2). He threw 50 innings as a sophomore, primarily in relief, and ended the year with a 2-1 record, a save and a very respectable 3.42 earned run average.
 
"This is the type of young man we are after here… seeking to grow in God and ready to work hard with the gifts God has blessed him with for something bigger than him," said Sullenger.
 
Sutorius plans to study history when he arrives at Biola and hopes to go into a career as a teacher.
 
"I chose Biola because it was the best fit for me academically, athletically and spiritually," said Sutorius.
 
Catch him and the Eagles at Eagles Diamond in January of 2018 as they kick-off the program's first NCAA Division II campaign.
