AGOURA HILLS, Calif. --- Biola Women's Basketball announces the addition of Jazz Benn to its 2017-18 incoming class. The Eagles signed the guard/forward out of Agoura High School and hope her versatility can add to the team this next year.
 
"Jazmin is a great fit for Biola University and our basketball program," said Head Coach Alan Nakamura. "Right when she stepped onto campus she fit right in with our team and with the environment of our university. She has a heart for the Lord, for people, for basketball, and for excellence!"
 
Benn stands in at 6-feet tall and can play all over the court for coach Nakamura. She's helped her high school team stay near the top of the standings all season long and is averaging 15 points, four rebounds and three assists this year.
 
Her high school team finished this season with a 21-8 overall record and played two games at the CIF Southern Section playoffs. This season they lost in the second round to the eventual Division 1A champions, Bishop Montgomery.
 
Benn is a two-time Marmonte League First Team selection and twice was named to the all-area girl's basketball team. Following her standout senior season she was named to the Ventura County and LA County Senior All-Star Team.
 
"As a basketball player she has the size, athleticism, skills, and savvy to excel at any position, in any role," said Nakamura. "She grew up playing basketball at a very high level in Germany, so she has had great training. And she has continued that commitment in the states with early workouts before school with her brother and high school coach Jason Ancrum."
 
Benn spent 10 years in Germany and has dual citizenship there and in the United States. Nakamura credits her club coach Elbert Kinnebrew with connecting Benn to Biola.
 
"I chose Biola because I felt welcomed and loved the atmosphere," said Benn.
 
She will enter the university this fall and plans to study business administration.
