LA MIRADA, Calif. --- As the Biola Eagles closed out their season with an eight-match winning streak and an NCCAA Women's Soccer Championship, they impressed multiple opposing coaching staffs with their physicality, strength and speed.

Many times, captain Madyson Brown was one of the Eagles who embodied that strength and prevented opponents' best attackers from creating the scoring chances they were accustomed to. In light of Brown's nearly inexhaustible motor and her precision in challenging opposing forwards, the United Soccer Coaches named her the NCCAA Player of the Year on Wednesday and will recognize her achievement at the USC All-American Luncheon in Philadelphia in late January.

Brown was given the honor based on a voting process completed by NCCAA coaches who belong to the United Soccer Coaches association. She was also named Player of the Year by the NCCAA governing board and garnered All-PacWest and NCCAA All-American recognitions.

In 2017, Brown and her teammates set a new program-best for wins in one season (17), earned the program's first NCCAA national championship and went undefeated at home with a record of 9-0-1. Brown started and played in 19 matches, accumulating 1722 minutes and three goals while being a lockdown defender.

The Eagles will return to the pitch for spring practices in February and will resume preparation for the 2018 season in earnest when training camp starts in August.
