NCCAA Championships Pool C Preview

Biola takes on Emmanuel (Ga.) and Trinity International in the first round of the NCCAA Championships.

November 27, 2017

KISSIMMEE, Fla. --- The NCCAA rewarded Biola's 13-3-2 record on Nov. 18 by naming it the No. 3 seed in the NCCAA DI Women's Soccer Championships.

That No. 3 seed puts Biola on top of Pool C in the nine-team field and gives them the coveted playoffs of having days off on Tuesday and Thursday should the Eagles reach the semifinals on Friday. The first round matches will be played Monday through Wednesday with the semifinals and championship to take place on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

After each team has played its two first-round matches, the three pool winners and the best second-place finisher will advance to the semifinals.

Biola's first match will be at 3:00 p.m. (PT) on Monday against NCAA Division II peer and No. 7 seed Emmanuel (Ga.) (10-7-1). The Lions come into the tournament having won three-straight matches, including two playoff games in the NCCAA Southern Regionals. Emmanuel (Ga.) has scored 28 goals on the year, with the bulk of its scoring coming from three players. Sophomore forward Lindsey Lee paces the Lions' offense with 11 goals.

On Wednesday, the Eagles faceoff with No. 4 seed Trinity International University of the NAIA at 3:00 p.m. (PT). The Trojans equal Biola's season win total at 13, to go along with six losses and one tie. After going 0-3-1 to finish out its conference schedule, Trinity International defeated University of Northwestern 3-0 to earn the automatic bid in the North Central Region. Junior forward Jillian Kolster has scored 22 times for the Trojans and has collected two goals or more in eight matches this season.

Biola comes into the field with the most wins of any team and the longest winning streak (four matches). And what may be most impressive is how long it has been since the Eagles have conceded a goal to an opponent. Biola has shutout its opponents for the last 447 minutes of play, which nearly equates to five matches.
