Eagles Cruise to Sweep Over La Sierra

CeCe Luster
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola pounded out 28 hits including five from CeCe Luster, who made her return to the starting line up in game two to lead the Eagles to a 5-1, 7-0 sweeping in a non-conference doubleheader over La Sierra University on Tuesday.

The Eagles improve to 21-22 with the victory and have won seven of their last nine games overall. The Golden Eagles fall to 5-22.

Luster, who had been out of action since Feb. 26 due to an injury, made a pinch-hit appearance late in Saturday's loss to Vanguard. She struck out in that plate appearance, but pinch-hit again against La Sierra in game one, recording an infield single. It was her first hit since Feb. 16. Luster followed that up with a 4-for-4 performance in her first start since being injured, recording two doubles and four RBIs.

Luster helped pace an impressive offensive attack by the Eagles, who recorded 14 hits in each game and scored 12 runs to provide run support for Sarah Enriquez. Enriquez allowed just one run on 13 hits over 14 innings, striking out five.

Biola opened the doubleheader with a pair of runs in the first. Brooke Madrid opened the inning with a single through right side. Heather Hall later drove her in with a triple to right and scored on a ground out by Sam Roberts.

The Eagles added two in the third on an RBI-single by Vanessa Coleman, which drove home Hall and a double by Sarah Stromwall plated Ashley Spadt to make it 4-0.

After La Sierra scored a run in the top of the fourth, Biola got it back in the bottom of the fourth as Brooke Madrid tripled with one out and scored on a sacrifice fly by Chelsea Limm to cap the scoring.

Brooke Madrid and Heather Hall each went 3-for-4 in the game and each scored two runs.

In the second game, Hall got Biola going with a double to left to score Limm with the game's first run and Luster singled to right with two outs to score Hall and make it 2-0.

In the third, Luster doubled home Bria Madrid with two outs to stretch the lead to three. The Eagles broke the game open with three unearned runs in the fifth. Luster singled home the first run and pinch-hitter Iliana Morales drove in two more with a single to extend the lead to 6-0.

The Eagles added one final run in the sixth as Luster hit a two-out double to score lim and cap the scoring.

Biola returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Irvine to face No. 1 Concordia University in a GSAC showdown at Noon.
