Box Score 2 LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola's offense struggled against the newly-crowned top team in the NAIA, falling 7-0 and 12-0 in a GSAC doubleheader against No. 1 Concordia University (Calif.) at Freedom Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Biola falls to 12-19 on the season with its seven loss in its last eight games and drops to 1-3 in GSAC play. Concordia, which moved up to No. 1 in the NAIA's first regular-season coaches poll released Tuesday afternoon, moves to 27-2 with its 23rd-straight win.
Biola's offense had a tough time against Concordia's strong pitching staff, managing just one hit in the second game after being no-hit in the first game. Katie Cotta, the NAIA Player of the Week last week, threw her fourth-straight no-hitter and fifth of the season.
The two teams played a close contest in the first game with both teams failing to score through the first four innings. Concordia got on the board with a run in the fifth, taking advantage of a Biola error to go up 1-0.
Jasmin Dresser hit a three-run home run with two out in the sixth to make it a 4-0 while two more runs came around to score for Concordia in the seventh to account for the final.
In game two, Biola led off the bottom of the first with a single by Brooke Madrid, who moved to second on a ground out, but was stranded there.
Concordia would get on the board in the third with a run, then added four in the fourth, two in the fifth and broke it open with five in the sixth.
Biola returns to action on Thursday, hosting Hope International University (16-10, 2-2 GSAC) in a GSAC doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m.
