LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola received a great pirching performance in game one in a 2-0 win but lost 11-1 in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader against Holy Names University on Thursday at Freedom Field.
The Eagles move to 8-12 on the season while the Hawks finish the day at 13-10.
Freshman
Sarah Enriquez was solid in the first game, tossing the first shutout of the season for Biola. Despite scattering 10 hits, Enriquez worked out of numerous jams to keep Holy Names off the board. She also had four strikeouts in the to pick up the victory.
The offense was provided early in the game. In the first inning,
Brooke Madrid continued her hot hitting with a one-out triple.
CeCe Luster then brought her home with a well-excecuted suicide squeeze to make it 1-0. Biola added another run in the second thanks to a solo home run by
Ashley Spadt to make it a 2-0 game.
Enriquez went to work from there and kept the Hawks off the board the rest of the way.
In the second game, Biola also scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first.
Chelsea Limm, who has also been one of Biola's hottest hitters lately, singled to lead off the inning and was moved to second on a bunt. Luster then picked up her 25th RBI of the season with a single to left.
However, things unraveled quickly for Biola as Holy Names recorded six runs on seven hits in the top of the second to take a 6-1 lead. The Hawks would add a run in the sixth and four more in the seventh.
Biola take s a bit of a break, but opens GSAC play on Tuesday, traveling to Costa Mesa to face Vanguard University on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
