Box Score OCEANSIDE, Calif. --- Adijat Adams scored 11 of her team-high 13 points in the second half and Jamie Elias added 10 as Biola defeated Cal State San Marcos 56-53 in a non-conference game on Thursday night at Mira Costa College in Oceanside.

The Eagles improve to 11-6 with the win while dropping the Cougars to 11-13.

After a hard fought first half which saw Biola struggle from the field, the Eagles came alive in the second half, holding San Marcos to just one point through the first five minutes. During that time, Biola took advantage and led 43-31 five minutes in. 

The Cougars slowly closed the gap and trailed by just seven with four minutes left. However, Chelsea Hill hit a key jumper with 3:55 left to stretch the lead back to nine.

With under a minute to go, the lead was down to four. Charrise Reese helped preserve the lead, hitting an impressive layup after driving through the teeth of the Cougars' zone defense, putting Biola up 56-50. On the following possession though, Cal State San Marcos earned three free throws after a foul on a three-point attempt and converted them all. On the other end, Biola missed the front end of a one-and-one, giving the Cougars one more shot with 11 seconds left. However, the three-point attempt as the buzzer sounded missed off the side iron.

Elias helped the cause with eight points in the first half as Biola went to the locker room down 30-27. The Eagles hit just 7-of-20 shots from the field, but stayed in the game by forcing a number of Cougar turnovers. Overall, Biola forced 21 turnovers and recorded 16 steals to control the game. 

Biola returns home for a GSAC game on Saturday, hosting Hope International University at 5:30 p.m. at Chase Gymnasium.
