LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Christine Douglas recorded a match-high 15 kills and posted a .609 attack percentage to lead Biola to a 25-11, 25-17, 25-12 victory over Hope International University in a GSAC match at Chase Gymnasium on Tuesday night.

The Eagles, ranked No. 10 in the latest NAIA National Poll, improve to 15-4 on the season and have now won 10 of their last 11 matches. Biola also improves to 3-0 in conference play.

The Royals drop to 4-10 overall and to 0-3 in the GSAC.

Douglas had an impressive showing with her 15 kills, adding four blocks and a dig on the night. She was a perfect 5-for-5 in the first set and closed out the match by going 5-for-8 in the final set.

The Biola middle blockers also got in on the act with freshman Amy Weststeyn recording six kills in 14 attack for a .429 attack percentage. Junior Rachel Buckley hit .625 with five kills in eight attacks, adding four blocks.

The Eagles broke open the first set with a long 16-3 run through the middle of the set. Leading 8-6, Biola received a service aces from sophomore setter Gracee Gallarda, then added a pair of kills from Sarah McAtee to double the lead and cruised from there.

In the second set, Biola had a harder time pulling away as Hope hung around through the first half. The Eagles trailed 10-9 until using a run of eight-straight points to go on top 17-10. Over that run, the Eagles recorded three blocks, a combo block by Douglas and Weststeyn and a solo block by each as well.

Biola took control of the third set early, erasing a 3-1 deficit with a 9-1 run and didn't look back.

The Eagles benefited from nine aces, with Nicolette Douglas and Emily Weingartner each recording three.

Markisha Richie led the Royals with nine kills.

Biola returns to action with a big GSAC match-up on Saturday, hosting No. 3 Concordia University (Calif.) at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have formed a fierce rivalry over the last five years and are two of the three teams still undefeated in conference play heading into Saturday's matches.
