Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Sophomore center Adijat Adams scored a game-high 21 points and added nine rebounds and two blocks, but it was not enough as Biola suffered a 60-51 loss to No. 8 Hastings College on Friday night in the final game of the 2011 Biola University Holiday Classic Presented by Holiday Inn-La Mirada.

The loss snaps a three-game winning and drops the Eagles to 8-3 on the season while the Mustangs, ranked No.  8 in the latest NAIA Division II poll, improve to 12-4.

Adams had a solid first half despite suffering from some early foul trouble, and kept it up with 11 second half points finishing with an impressive 9-of-15 shooting night. However, she was the only Biola player in double-figures as the rest of the Eagles were just 11-of-42 (26.1%) in the game. Biola shot just 35.1% in the game and hit just one three-pointer in the game.

Two Hastings players did much of the damage with Alicia Statler scoring 21 points and Brittney Wong adding 17 for the visitors.

Biola got of to a quick start in the contest, roaring out to an 11-2 lead with Adams scoring six of those early points. But the Mustangs responded with a three-point barrage and eventually took the lead with a three by Wong at the 5:23 mark. Hastings would keep the lead and head to the locker room iwth a 30-27 halftime lead.

After a pair of free throws by Biola's Chelsea Hill made it a one-point game early in the second half, the Mustangs quickly stretched the lead up to nine with an 8-0 run which started with back-to-back three-pointers by Wong. Still down nine at the 14:06 mark, Biola used an 8-0 run of its own to cut the lead to one with Hill starting hitting a pair of shots over the stretch. But a Statler bucket followed two possessions later by a three-pointer by McDermott made it a 46-40 Hastings lead with 8:01 left.

Biola could get no closer than three the rest of the way as the Mustangs drained their free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

Hastings connected on eight three-pointers in the game with four coming from Wong and made 14-of-15 free throws including a perfect 10-of-10 in the second half. Biola managed to hold a slight 35-30 edge in rebounds.

BIola returns to action in the new year, taking a trip over to arch-rival Azusa Pacific University for a GSAC contest on Tuesday, January 3 at 5:30 p.m. The game will be the last between the two in Azusa as the Cougars leave for the NCAA next season. The two will meet later in the year at Biola in the final GSAC contest ever between the two long-time rivals.
