GAME ONE BOX SCORE
GAME TWO BOX SCORE

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Erica Moyer collected five hits and Sara Smith added four more to lead Biola to a non-conference doubleheader sweep over Cal State San Marcos by scores of 1-0 and 7-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Freedom Field.

The Eagles improve to 17-16 with the wins while dropping the Cougars to 26-18. The wins snaps Cal State San Marcos four-game winning streak, all of which came against NAIA Top 25 teams.

Biola pounded out 17 hits over the course of the two games while allowing just seven. Lyndsie Roberts allowed just three hits and no earned runs in seven innings over two games, picking up the win in both games.

The first game of the day was a tight battle with neither team able to score through the first six innings. Both teams had good chances, though with each putting a baserunner on in each of the first five innings. However, the pitchers clamped down with a runner on and did not allow the clutch hit.

Biola starter Kristin Larson scattered four hits over the first five innings before making way for Roberts in the sixth. CSUSM starter Melissa Lerno was matching pitches, also allowing four hits through the first four innings.

After Roberts closed the door without allowing a baserunner in the sixth or seventh innings, Biola was finally able to get to Lerno in the bottom of the seventh. Moyer recorded a on-eout single through the right side to get things going. After a strikeout, Kacie Lyding followed with a solid single into the right-centerfield gap. The ball was misplayed by the Cougars' right fielder, which allowed Moyer to come all the way around and score the winning run.

In the second game, Biola fell behind early as an error by the Eagles allowed the Cougars to score a run in the first and go up 1-0.

It took Biola a while to figure out Cal State San Marcos pitcher Brenna Sandberg, but they finally broke through with a big fourth inning. With one out, Moyer and Keena Levert collected singles to start the rally. Lyding then followed with a grounder to short. The Cougars' shortstop tried to tag Moyer going from second to third, but missed the tag to load the bases.

With the bases loaded, Jillian Albert hit a high chopper to short and Moyer again beat out the play, sliding ahead of the throw to the plate to tie the game at one. Jillian Storm then followed with a single through the right side to score Levert and give the Eagles the lead. Smith then broke the game open with a single to center which scored both Lyding and Albert. When the dust settled Biola led 4-1 after four innings.

In the fifth, the Eagles would added a pair of unearned runs capped by an RBI-single by Storm to centerfield.

Biola closed out the scoring with a run in the sixth as Krista Johnson led off the frame with a double to right centerfield. She advanced to third on a deep flyout to centerfield by Roberts and came around to score on a single up the middle by Moyer.

Roberts allowed one unearned run on three hits over five innings to pick up her second win of the day. Moyer came on in the sixth and retired all six batters she faced to close out the game.

Moyer was 5-of-8 from the dish on the day including going 4-for-4 in the second game, the best individual game performance of the season for the Eagles. She added two runs scored and an RBI. Smith collected a pair of hits in each game to help the cause.

Biola takes a break from action, returning to the field on Saturday (Apr. 18) to face Azusa Pacific University in a GSAC doubleheader beginning at Noon.
