BOX SCORE
EL CAJON, Calif. --- Senior opposite hitter Brittany Wing recorded 12 kills and Biola had 12 total blocks as the Eagles swept San Diego Christian 30-13, 30-19, 30-21 on Tuesday night in a GSAC match at the Ryan Athletic Center in El Cajon.
The Eagles, ranked No. 5 in the latest NAIA National rankings, had little trouble running their season-opening winning-streak to 10 matches and improving to 3-0 on the season. The Hawks dropped to 4-8 on the season and 0-3 in GSAC play.
Wing had a stellar night again for Biola, recording 12 kills with a .375 attack percentage. Sophomore Meghan Cunningham led the block part with six blocks--including one solo--and added eight kills.
As has been their custom this season, the Eagles went back and forth early in each game before long runs helped put the game away.
Junior outside hitter Maggie McGill had six kills and a team-high 14 digs in her return to the school where she played for two seasons. Freshman Tavea Hampton made the most of her limited playing time, recording three kills in as many attempts and adding four blocks.
The Eagles' stellar setters Christina Perkins and Abbie Wright had 29 and 17 assists, respectively, with Wright also recording seven digs.
Meggan Chapin led San Diego Christian with 10 kills and 13 digs.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday (Sept. 15) as they host No. 6 Point Loma Nazarene University in a key GSAC showdown at Chase Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.
