Warkentin, Christoferson Earn Academic All-District Honors

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola's Meghan Warkentin and Kelsey Christoferson have earned CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Distict VIII First Team honors for their work both on and off the court.

Warkentin, a junior outside hitter, has posted a 4.00 cumulative GPA while pursuing a mathematics major at Biola. She leads the Eagles and ranks fifth in the Golden State Athletic Conference with an impressive 4.01 kills per game average this year. Warkentin has a team-high 393 kills and 186 digs (1.90/game) and 40 blocks.

Christoferson, a sophomore middle blocker, also has a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA and is majoring in Mass Communications/Film & TV. She is currently second in the conference in attack percentage at .396 with 212 kills and just 41 errors in 432 total atracks. Christoferson also has recorded 85 blocks–including 16 solo.

The All-District VIII team is made up of student-athletics from NCAA Divisions II, III and NAIA schools from Alaska, Hawaii, California, Washington, Arizona, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, and British Columbia. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.2 grade point average and be a starter or key reserve. The award is voted on by district Sports Information Directors.

By being named First Team All-District, the two have a chance at earning Academic All-America honors.

Biola's volleyball team–ranked No. 4 in the latest NAIA National Poll–wraps up the regular season on Saturday (Nov. 10) against No. 2 California Baptist University in Chase Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.
