LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola University outside hitter Kelsey Mitchell has been named the GSAC Volleyball Player of the week for Sept. 24-Sept. 30 the conference office announced Monday.

Mitchell, a junior from El Cajon's Christian High School, had 33 kills and a combined hitting percentage of .547 in three matches, adding five aces, seven digs and three blocks as No. 5 Biola went 2-1 for the week.

In a sweep over No. 4-ranked National American University SD on Friday, Mitchell had 11 kills in 14 attacks without an error, adding four aces and two blocks. She followed that with a 13-kill, one-error performance in a three-game sweep over The Master's.

Mitchell has recorded at least 10 kills without committing an error on two different occasions this year and has had just one error in two other matches. In her last six matches, she has 67 kills and just 10 errors in 128 attacks, good for a .445 attack percentage.

Biola, ranked No. 5 in the latest NAIA National poll, hosts arch-rival and No. 8-ranked Azusa Pacific on Tuesday (Oct. 2) in a big GSAC contest at Chase Gymnasium. The match is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
