Zachary Thomas joined the Biola baseball staff in the fall of 2025 as the Lead Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.
Thomas came to Biola after serving as the Director of Baseball Operations at Utah Tech University for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. During his time with the Trailblazers, he was part of the program’s first NCAA Division I postseason appearance, at the 2025 WAC Tournament.
Thomas played five seasons (2019–2023) at Utah Tech, which was Dixie State until 2022, as a pitcher and utility player. He was a three-time Academic All-WAC selection and earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance in 2022.
In his first season at Biola in 2026, the Eagles went 26-26 overall and 22-22 in the PacWest. James Whitman was named PacWest Player of the Year and became an ABCA and D2 Baseball Second Team All-American, as well as the ABCA West Region Position Player of the Year. Jonny Tewinkle earned First Team All-PacWest and all-region honors, and Luke Caruso and Oscar Knapp were Second Team All-PacWest selections.
Originally from Lakewood, California, Thomas enjoys helping athletes grow both on and off the field. His favorite Bible verse is Mark 10:44-45. When asked why he chose Biola, Thomas stated, “To grow professionally and spiritually.”
