Sydney Burns joined the Biola Women’s Basketball staff in the fall of 2025 as an assistant coach.
Burns came to Biola after completing a four-year playing career at UC Davis (2021-2025). During her career at UC Davis, she played in 121 games, earned 103 starts and totaled 2,920 minutes. She also recorded 662 points, 386 rebounds, 351 assists, 128 steals and seven blocks. Additionally, Burns was named to the Big West All-Freshman Team, a two-time CSC Academic All-District selection, a two-time Big West All-Academic pick and made the Big West Commissioner's Honor Roll - Highest Honor.
Burns graduated from UC Davis with her bachelor's in international agricultural development.
Originally from Wilsonville, Oregon Burns graduated from Wilsonville High School in 2021. In high school, she was multi-sport athlete who competed in basketball, soccer, tennis, track, and cross country.
Burns has family ties to Biola, with siblings Lauren Burns (Class of 2021) and Jack Burns (Class of 2023) both alumni of the university.
Her favorite Bible verse is 1 Peter 1:6–7. She is a certified hay sampler and was the Egyptian Ratscrew National Runner Up in 2020.
When asked why she chose Biola, Burns shared, “I want to be involved in encouraging athletes’ formation as a whole person, through faith and sport.”
