Malik Shaheed became the 12th head coach of the Biola Men's Soccer program in 2026, after serving as the Eagles' associate head coach during the 2025 season.
Before Biola
Prior to returning to Biola, Shaheed gained coaching experience at the collegiate, high school and club levels. He coached at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2024, when the Crusaders won the American Southwest Conference regular-season title and head coach Ben Allen was named ASC Coach of the Year.
Shaheed also coached at Lipscomb Academy, La Mirada High School and Pacifica Christian High School. During his time at Pacifica Christian, he helped guide the program to a San Joaquin League championship, a CIF Southern Section Division 8 finals appearance and its first state regional tournament berth.
In 2026, Shaheed also served as an assistant coach for the SoCal Eagles of the Women's Premier Soccer League.
Playing Career
Shaheed began his collegiate playing career at Lipscomb University (2016-19), where he led the Bisons' freshmen in points in 2016, shared the team lead in points in 2019 and was part of teams that captured ASUN championships and made NCAA Tournament appearances in 2017 and 2018.
He later transferred to Biola as a graduate student, serving as a team captain and earning Third Team All-PacWest and Academic All-PacWest honors in 2021 while helping lead the Eagles to the program's first NCAA Division II Tournament appearance.
Following his collegiate career, Shaheed competed professionally in the National Independent Soccer Association. His professional experience included time with Bay Cities FC and Flower City Union, where he was part of a 2023 NISA championship team.
Personal
Shaheed is a native of Texas and resides in Hacienda Heights, California, with his wife, Cristina. They attend Southlands Church Brea.
When asked about stepping into the head coaching role, Shaheed shared, “I’m feeling incredibly blessed and grateful for the opportunity to steward the head coach role for the Biola Men’s Soccer program. Biola has played such a significant role in my life (as a graduate student-athlete, associate head coach, and now as head coach), and I’m honored to continue building on the strong foundation Coach Joey O’Keefe poured his life into establishing ever since I got to play for him. I’m excited to continue investing in and building up these young men, competing at a high level, and, above all else, pursuing excellence in a way that reflects Christ in everything we do.”
