Billi Derleth joined the Biola Athletics staff in June 2022 as the Assistant Sports Information Director.
She came to Biola after serving as the Interim Sports Information Director at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo in Hilo, Hawai’i. Derleth served in that capacity since August 2021. Before joining the Vulcans she was a summer 2020 USA Softball intern and a Concordia University Irvine Sports Information Graduate Assistant from June 2020 to August 2021.
"I am so excited to join the Biola Athletics Department and stay in the PacWest Conference. Biola has a great athletic department that I am honored to be a part of and I look forward to working with and serving the student-athletes here in La Mirada," said Derleth.
While at Hilo, Derleth helped highlight the academic and athletic achievements of the Vulcans’ student-athletes, coordinated media relations, statistics, and maintained the Vulcan Athletics website.
Prior to working at UH Hilo, Derleth was a member of the Vulcans’ softball team for parts of five seasons (2016-20). She was a pitcher and designated hitter for UH Hilo and played a key role in a program that went 131-81 during those five seasons.
"We are looking forward to bringing Billi onto our staff to help serve our student-athletes," said Ethan McGarvey, sports information director. "Billi will bring a hard-working attitude to Biola and will energize the sports information office going into 2022-23."
Derleth graduated from UH Hilo in 2020 with two bachelor’s degrees in Communications and Kinesiology and Exercise Science. She is on track to graduate from Concordia University Irvine with a master’s in Athletic Administration and Coaching in Fall 2021.
