Johnny Ragin joined the Biola track & field program as a throws coach in Winter 2018.

Ragin graduated from the University of Oregon in 2017, where he was a linebacker on the Ducks' football team for three seasons. He was a starter during his time with the Ducks and earned his way to a team captaincy.

In 2017, he made the Tennessee Titans' 90-man roster out of mini-camp. He was a two-time Academic All-Pac 12 selection during his time at Oregon and graduated Cum Laude. Ragin was also a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, which honors the nation's top NCAA Scholar-Athlete. He earned Oregon's Todd Doxey Award in 2016 (Most Outstanding Teammate).

In 2014 Ragin had the opportunity to play in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game and help his team to a 13-2 overall record and Pac-12 Championship. They also earned a 59-20 win over Florida State in the Rose Bowl.

During high school, Ragin was a state champion in the javelin and the 4x100m. He had this to say about his choice to coach at Biola: "I chose Biola to grow in my faith and to help our athletes grow in theirs. My goal is to assist Coach Dave Hogan in getting our athletes ready to compete at an extremely high level while also helping them become the greatest versions of themselves, on and off the track and in the classroom."
