    Assistant Swimming Coach
Head Coach Ryan Kauth announced Jenel Lopez as his new assistant coach in September 2019. Lopez comes to Biola following a collegiate career in swimming at Cerritos College and CSU East Bay.

She also coaches at Brea Aquatics and is actively involved in the Crossfit community. During the 2018-19 season she served as a graduate assistant at Concordia Irvine, which is where she attained a graduate degree.

During her time at CSUEB Lopez was a part of Biola's swimming & diving conference, the Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference. She was a top-8 finisher at the conference meet both years and was a NCAA qualifier in the 200-freestyle, swimming the 13th best time in the nation.

She helped the Pioneers to a second-place PCSC finish in 2013 and was a part of a top-8 relay team at NCAA Division II nationals. Lopez was named the Pioneers' Athlete of the Year in both 2012 and 2013 and earned NCAA All-American honors in 2013.

In 2005 she won the CIF title in the 50-freestyle and 100-freestyle and she was a top-8 finisher the rest of her high school career. Lopez also holds her school record in the 50- and 100-freestyle.

When she's not coaching or Crossfitting, Lopez enjoys spending time with family and friends and being at church. Her father, Thomas, played NCAA Division I baseball at CSU Long Beach.

She resides in Chino Hills, Calif.
