Coach Mata has been involved with the Biola Women’s Golf program since 2011, officially joining the coaching staff in 2014 as an assistant to Head Coach Jane Carr.
In addition to coaching duties, Pete is head of scouting junior tournaments and college golf combines. Coach Mata’s interaction with recruits and their parents bring both a coaching and player-parent perspective, as his daughter Jackie enjoyed a successful student-athlete experience playing for Biola.
"When speaking with recruits and their parents I do my best to be a well rounded source of information in sharing the business model of our program, our coaching philosophy, and the direction our the program is headed. Also sharing my past experiences as a parent of a player is helpful in answering various parent questions," said Mata.
Mata's business background brings a continuous improvement mindset and team building qualities that fit nicely into Coach Carr's Program. "My goal is to provide the best college golf experience imaginable and see them mature on and off the golf course as they prepare to enter the world.”
