Mickey Miela joined Head Coach Sean Henning's Biola Track & Field staff in the summer of 2018. He comes to the Eagles after four years as the assistant track & field coach at Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts. He's also currently the head track & field coach at JSerra Catholic High School.
Miela graduated from Stonehill College in 2013 with two degrees, a bachelor's in American studies and a bachelor's in religious studies. He player football and ran track for the Skyhawks, an NCAA Division II institution in Massachusetts.
Miela was an all-conference hurdler and finished off his football career with nine interceptions.
He's originally from this area, attending Trabuco Hills High School, where he graduated in 2009. He was a SeaView league champion and won league championships in the 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles and 4x400m relay. His 4x400m relay team was also a top-10 finisher at the state meet.
While coaching sprints and hurdles at Assumption, his student-athletes broke every school record in sprints. He also helped both the men and women's teams place higher than they ever had at the NE10 conference meet. In his 1+ year at JSerra, he's recorded the highest winning percentage against Trinity League opponents in school history.
While at Assumption, Miela also served as the campus staff member for college ministry group, InterVarsity.
When not coaching, Miela enjoys surfing, hiking and running Spartan races.
