LA MIRADA---Bethany Mapes and Joshua Widdows were named the PacWest Conference Track Athletes of the Week for their strong performances last week at the Stanford Invitational.

Mapes shined in the 5,000m run at the Stanford Invitational. Mapes broke her own school record with a personal-best time of 16:21.94, a mark that ranks third in the nation and first in the PacWest Conference.

"Bethany has continued her fantastic year by putting down another couple of school records and two national provisional marks," stated head coach Sean Henning. "I think we are just getting started and the best is yet to come for her."

At the Stanford Invite, Widdows won the men's 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 51.01. The performance broke his own school record and ranked him second-fastest in the nation and first in the PacWest Conference.

"Josh has done a great job progressively getting better this year every time he has run the hurdles." said Henning. "He had a tough finish last year at the end of the year with an injury going into nationals. He's done a great job building himself up over the fall and early spring so that he's in great shape as we dive into April."

The Biola track & field teams compete next on Saturday, April 11 at the Pomona-Pitzer Track & Field Invite.
