Eagles Wrap Up Competition in the Bay

The Biola Eagles closed out competition at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and Stanford Invitational.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--- The Biola track & field teams closed out competition at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and Stanford Invitational.

Mike Fanelli Track Classic (Day 2)
Biola's distance runners returned to action in the 10,000 meters and middle-distance events. Karis Brown led the women in the 10K, placing 20th (38:46.28), while Sara Johnson followed in 26th (39:26.32). On the men's side, Zachary Wallace paced the Eagles with a 61st-place finish (33:45.17).

Bethany Mapes led Biola's women in the 800m run (43rd, 2:13.38), followed by Hailey Wurzbach (58th, 2:14.79) and Elizabeth Kurtz (89th, 2:17.24). Jake Sorani led the way for the men, finishing 87th with a time of 1:55.59. Nick Geringer also placed in the top half of the field in the 800, taking 100th out of 249 runners (1:56.08).

Jaina Kang had a personal best performance in the mile, placing 11th with a time of 5:04.81.

Stanford Invitational (Day 2)
Biola continued competition at Stanford with two finals appearances and field event efforts. 

Eboselulu Omofoma had a standout performance in the women's 100m hurdles final, finishing fourth with a time of 14.03.

Brayden Watson ran in the men's 110m hurdles final, placing fifth with a time of 14.95.

In the field events, Faith Winningham recorded a ninth-place finish in the hammer throw (46.56m), while Hope Willis added a sixth-place finish in the discus (46.60m). Omofoma also competed in the triple jump, finishing sixth (11.76m).

Additional leading performances included Aidan Erickson tying for fifth in the pole vault (4.35m) and Norah DeYoung placing sixth in the discus (41.38m).

Biola runs next at the Pomona-Pitzer Track & Field Invite on Saturday, April 11th.
