4x400 Highlights Saturday at UCLA

Women’s relay places third as Biola posts solid marks across the board

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- The Biola track and field teams rounded out day two competition inside UCLA Drake Stadium.

The Eagles saw one of their top marks in the field from Robby Porter, who cleared 2.06m to take eighth in the men's high jump. Kaiden Gonzales competed in both throwing events, placing 23rd in shot put (13.85m) and 18th in discus (43.72m). On the women's side, Laura Brennan led the way in shot put with a 14th-place finish at 12.25m, while Leah Gilmore (38.17m) and Norah De Young (35.89m) added solid marks in discus.

Eboselulu Omofoma contributed across multiple events, finishing ninth in the triple jump (11.97m), 16th in the long jump (5.44m) and 11th in the 100m hurdles (14.08). Marco Smith paced the men's long jump group with a mark of 6.46m.

The women's 4x400 relay team delivered Biola's lone podium finish. The group of Hannah Hanson, Gracie Heath, Sophie Day and Amelia Trautman placed third with a time of 3:53.87. 

Biola also found success in the distance events, with Grace Regan leading the charge in the women's 1500m with a fifth-place finish (4:51.51). Claire Lesiw followed closely behind in sixth (4:52.08), while Ellie Dimitraschchuk added a top-10 finish in ninth (4:56.06). On the men's side, Edgar Ortega finished 13th in the 1500m with a time of 4:08.70.

In the hurdles, Joshua Widdows led the men with a seventh-place finish in the 110m hurdles (14.27) and contributed to the men's 4x400 relay team that placed seventh (3:15.08). Joaquin Ramirez (57.19) and Stuart Lau (57.59) added top-25 finishes in the 400m hurdles.

The sprints group was highlighted by Matthew Kaloustian, who ran 10.82 in the 100m (19th) and 21.77 in the 200m (23rd). Quinn Shavey added a 21st-place finish in the 200m (21.70), while Tyler Poltl clocked 10.89 in the 100m.

Biola's relay squads continued to show consistency, with the men's 4x100 team placing seventh (41.04) and the women's 4x100 finishing 11th (47.76).

The Eagles will travel north for meets in San Francisco and Stanford on April 3rd and 4th.
