Eagles Drop Two to Toros

Biola dropped two tightly contested games, the first being a 3–2 loss and the second a 3–1 decision.

CARSON, Calif.---The Biola softball team competed against Cal State Dominguez Hills in a doubleheader but came up just short in both contests. The Eagles dropped two tightly contested games, the first being a 3–2 loss and the second a 3–1 decision.

Game 1: CSUDH 3 BU 2
In game one, Biola built up a 2-0 lead after two innings. Kendall Nakano scored BU's first run with a single up the middle in the first inning. The Eagles' second run was scored in the second by Kennadie Tsue. Tsue grounded out to third base but was able to score a speedy Mikala Huskey from the hit.

The Toros retaliated in the sixth inning, tying up the game with two runs and would push across the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

DJ Symons threw the entire game for Biola. The Senior allowed 10 hits and two earned runs to score. She also recorded two strikeouts.

Game 2: CSUDH 3 BU 1
The second game was another nailbiter. After three scoreless innings, Biola broke through first. Cami Lara singled with two outs to score Madison Duncan from second base (Lillianna Garcia's pinch runner). Garcia was the lead off batter who singled to get the inning going for BU.

Cal State Dominguez Hills wasted no time answering back and tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth.

Two more scoreless frames passed and CSUDH would walk off the game with a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh.

Kayla Bousquette threw the entire game for Biola. The Senior allowed three hits and three earned runs to score. She also recorded three strikeouts.

Biola's offensive leaders were Jackie Ibarra (.375) and Mikala Huskey (.333). Ibarra went 3-for-8 in the two games and Huskey was 2-for-6.

With the losses, BU moves to 7–9 overall, while CSUDH improves to 11–5 on the season. Biola will look to bounce back at the NorCal Crossover, beginning with a matchup against Chico State on Friday, Feb. 27.
