SAN RAFAEL, Calif. --- The Biola men's soccer team faced the Dominican Penguins on Wednesday afternoon at Kennelly Field. The Eagles fell to Dominican, 5-1.
Kyle Denn put the Eagles ahead in the 19th minute, finishing after
Rocky Mendoza set him up. Denn dribbled along the endline with only the keeper to beat, firing his shot into the top corner.
The lead lasted less than a minute. Dominican answered in the 20th minute finishing a one-time shot from the top of the box. They scored twice more in the 27th and 31st minutes to give the hosts a 3-1 lead heading into halftime.
Dominican added two more early in the second half. The Penguins added on in the 50th and 51st minute to build the final margin.
Ethan Kell played all 90 minutes in goal for Biola and made four saves, all in the second half. The Eagles took 10 shots to Dominican's 11, with five coming in each half, and earned seven corner kicks after the break.
Biola moved to 2-6-3 overall and 2-1-1 in PacWest play, while Dominican improved to 2-3-4 overall and 1-0-1 in conference action. They will face the Jessup Warriors on Saturday, October 10th at 1:30 p.m.
