LA MIRADA -- Biola University Athletics cemented its reputation as a leader in academic excellence in the 2024-25 school year. Through 18 sport programs, each team displayed strength on the field and in the classroom to garner conference, regional, and national academic recognitions.
Biola Tops PacWest in Academic All-PacWest Awards
Biola student-athletes earned a conference-best
289 Academic All-PacWest honors, more than any other PacWest institution. The award recognizes student-athletes maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the academic year.
Biola also led the conference in five sports:
- Men's Cross Country – 20 honorees
- Volleyball – 19 honorees
- Men's Basketball – 13 honorees
- Women's Golf – 9 honorees
- Men's Track & Field – 41 honorees
In addition,
18 Eagles achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs, joining just 186 student-athletes across the PacWest who earned this elite distinction.
D2 ADA Academic Achievement Dominance
The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association's Academic Achievement Awards honor student-athletes who maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA, complete at least two years of college coursework, and actively compete in their sport. This year's awards program set historic records, with 22,756 student-athletes recognized nationwide from 202 institutions.
Biola's 191 award winners not only topped the PacWest's 1,272 total honorees but also positioned the Eagles among the nation's elite in academic performance relative to athletic program size.
CSC Academic Honors: Excellence on the National Stage
Biola celebrated
55 CSC Academic All-District selections, recognizing outstanding performance both in the classroom and in competition. From that group,
two Eagles earned CSC Academic All-America honors, placing them among the most accomplished student-athletes nationwide.
Team and Program-Specific Academic Awards
Several Biola programs were recognized for team-wide academic achievement:
- Softball – Posted a 3.44 team GPA; 10 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, including three perfect 4.0 recipients.
- Baseball – Earned the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a cumulative GPA above 3.0.
- Men's Basketball – Honored with NABC National Academic Team Recognition.
- Women's Water Polo – Earned team and individual academic honors across all categories.
- Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving – Collected fall and spring CSCAA Scholar All-America honors.
- Women's Golf – Produced four WGCA Scholar-All-Americans.
